Welcome to our schoolThank you for visiting our School Website. This website will give you more information about our school and school activities. If you have any questions please contact the school office. Taft Community mourns the loss of our beloved teacher
“Mrs. Brown was a teacher of greatness, a woman of beauty, a person of great integrity, a lover of life and passionate that all children can learn and achieve at high levels,” said Taft Principal Dee Johnson. “All Mrs. Brown’s students left her classes feeling success in academics and knowing they could accomplish whatever they wanted to.” Mary was a Montessori instructor with the district for 27 years, 20 of those spent at Taft teaching fourth through eighth grades. She and her husband raised six children and two of their daughters now teach at SUSD schools. Services are planned for Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at the Progressive Community Church, 2820 South “B” St., Stockton, CA 95206. A reception follows at the Taft Multipurpose Room, 419 Downing Avenue, Stockton. Taft Hmong Dancers and Ballet Folklorico at Magnet Fair!
Taft's GardenSince the Home Depot donation of $3,000, matching costs in vendor assistance, and labor from several of their Northern California stores, other community partners have joined in the major revival of the Taft Botanical Gardens. Elks Lodge Representative, Connie Revay, became involved and presented the Elks Lodge "Plant a Promise" drug awareness program. The Elks Lodge donated $1,000 and several plants and seeds to literally plant a promise. Connie Revay and mascot "Elroy the Elk" put together an assembly with the police department and their drug sniffing dog! Then, at the Juneteenth celebration in Taft Park, Khubaka Michael Harris (Black Agriculture) saw the Taft garden from behind and asked attendee Gloria Allen, SUSD trustee area 1 about the garden. That was the spark that brought Michael on board with Taft Botanical Gardens. Since then he has brought together many different organizations such as San Joaquin Delta College, ARC of San Joaquin, Central Valley Harvest, Taft Community Center, University of California Cooperative Extension, San Joaquin County Youth FSNEP Program, and many others. Exciting partnerships continue to evolve as others join us in our growing outdoor classroom! Thank you Quail Lakes Baptist Church!
